This expedition is one of the most comprehensive rainforest experiences. We will take you to the most interesting places in this vast Manu National Park, At the Reserved Zone you will visit Cocha Otorongo, Cocha Salvador (Oxbow Lake), where you can find many animal attractions. You can spend time canoeing on these lakes and have the chance to see different species of birds and various monkeys. On the water, you can't miss the chance to see giant otters and alligators, the freshwater predators that make their home. This expedition will also take you to the Blanquillo Macaw Clay Lick where you can see hundreds of parrots and macaws eating the minerals they use for digestion. On this tour, you also have access to a walk-in canopy tower (optional) on this expedition. You don't need to be a hiking or rock-climbing expert to see the abundant wildlife. Manu National Park is one of the last places on Earth untouched by humans. If you come to this nature reserve, you will experience what a real natural rainforest is! You'll see incredible biodiversity in their all-natural habitat. The park contains many ecosystems, from the Andes at an altitude of 4,000 meters (over 12,500 feet), through elf forests and cloud forests, to lowland forests at an altitude of only 300 meters (600 feet).

Day 1 Cusco - Ninamarca - Paucartambo - Cloud Forest - Salvation

 

5:00am very early. We will pick you up from your hotel in our private car and drive to southeastern Peru. We begin our climb up the Andes, passing several towns along the way, including Huancarani, stopping to visit the pre-Inca tombs of Ninamarca, commonly known as Chullpas or burial chambers (3,750 meters above sea level). We then descend into the Paucartambo valley, reaching the city and stopping for breakfast and an excursion to the main square. We continue our journey for an hour to the entrance of Manu National Park, a place called Ajanaco (3,550m). Here we will see a different type of vegetation and clouds descending towards the jungle, we can see the entrance of the cloud forest and see the vegetation covering us all around the mountains quickly turn into clouds, overlooking the valley leading to the Amazon River, the mountains and waterfalls, We will stop at various points in the cloud forest to be able to spot birds such as woodpeckers, pythons, orioles, and look for opportunities to see the rock-crowned bird (the national bird of Peru). We will take a short walk and then have lunch in the cloud forest. We then continue our journey through the jungle towns of Patria, Pilcopata, etc. before reaching the town of Salvacion where we will spend the night at a private house or hotel. We will have a typical dinner at a local restaurant.


Day 2  Salvacion – Lake Machuwasi – Shintuya Hot Springs – Petroleo Streem - Coco’s House


In the morning before breakfast, we drive 5 to 10 minutes to Lake Machuwasi, where we board the raft. We spent an hour exploring the lake, observing a variety of birds, chickadees, cardinals, coral lorikeets, cormorants, horned warblers, flocks of green parrots and the unique shrieks of the jungle. We also saw puffins in the treetops. After exploring the lake for 1 hour, we returned to our accommodation and enjoyed a delicious breakfast. About 1:30 minutes by car, we will arrive at Shintuya Native Community, where our boat will be waiting for us to take us to Shintuya Hot Spring, Changed our transport to a motor boat, which takes about 20 minutes. Lower reaches of the Alto Madre de Dios river. To reach the hot spring, we first walk for 45 minutes. Go swimming and cliff jumping at the Petroleo Stream waterfall. Back at the hot springs, we can enjoy the hot water in the handmade pools on site. In the afternoon, we take a motorboat down the river to the town of Itahuania, where our car will be waiting for us to pick us up from the port and take us to Coco's House Hotel, where we will spend the night.


Day 3  Coco’s House  – Boca Manu - Cocha Salvador


Early this morning we took a 15 minute boat ride up the current. Until parrots lick up groups of blue-headed parrots These species of parrots come to this place to fetch or lick clay for minerals and salts which are very important in their diet, named after seeds and fruits that help them remove toxins from their digestive system, after observing this natural wonder return to our Coco’s house for healthy breakfast, we continue downstream, reach the town of Boca Manu, cruise the up Manu River, and see the abundant wildlife along the river banks with plenty to do. Arrive at Casa Machigenga in the late afternoon and stay overnight.


Day 4  Cocha Salvador - Cocha Otorongo


DAY 4 Early as possible in the morning light to watch the giant otters eating their breakfast. visit Salvador Oxbow Lake It is one of the best place to see wildlife, common to see monkeys among the giant trees surrounding the lake, enjoy for like 2 hours in the lake, we are going to return to Casa Machiguenga for a breakfast. Then drive to another lake called Otorongo (Lake Jaguar) with a lookout and walk on various trails and see and learn about the tropical forest. In the afternoon, we will return to the camp  for lunch, and in the afternoon  we will go out into the jungle again to look for spiders monkeys, wooly monkeys, peccaries, deer, coaties, return to our lodge for a fresh shower and a great dinner with the opportunity to exchange jungle stories.


Day 5  Cocha Salvador - Blanquillo Macaws Lick


This day we will go down the river to a lodge called Blanquillo. Always having the change to see a lot birds and mammals along the bank of the river, arriving to the lodge around noon. After lunch, we are going to hike to the Cocha Blanco to explore the lake with the opportunity  to see abundant wildlife and giant trees, head back to the lodge, take a a fresh shower and have quality dinner.


DAY 6  Blanquillo Macaws Lick - Cocha Camungo - Coco’s House


Nearby Macaw Clay Lick is the  first stop where classic large parrots and macaws are at their most active feasting on nutritious minerals and then flocking away. Afterwards, you'll follow several trails  through a forest Around noon we are going head up the river Madre de Dios, passing for a rapids we are going to arrive to Coco;s House for a fresh shower and delicious dinner.


DAY 7  Coco’s House - Cloud Forest - Cusco


Early this morning we will take our private car back to the city of Cusco, we will make a stop at the Dos loritos place, here you will be able to see different species of birds and mammals that were rescued and trained for their original habitat, continuing our trip we will be able to make a stop In the cloud forest to see the beautiful landscape of mountains with vegetation and waterfalls, in the afternoon we will arrive in the city of Cusco, transfer to your hotel.
